Friday

There’s a pleasure in visiting the outdoors when both the temperature and the humidity meet in the lower 70s. And this morning I reaped the benefits of that pleasure when the temperature was 73° with a 73% humidity.

I really do understand that this is just a preview of the fall to come. Summer will return with a vengeance. It always does. But days like today or to be enjoyed wholeheartedly, just because of their rarity in this part of the world.

After running the last of the grandkids out to the bus this morning, I decided to sit a spell on the front porch. And I must admit, over the years the amount of traffic on our road has really expanded. The number of cars going by in any 10-minute period reach new heights on a daily basis.

I can tell when I drive away from this place and have to sit at the light at the corner just how expensive the traffic has become. In the past, on most trips, if I was turning right at the light I could come to a stop and almost turn immediately. These days it seems like there’s always three or four cars ahead of me at the corner and the time the light stays red is double or triple what it wants was. But that’s a whole other story…

In the past 6 months TexDOT has reset all of the stop lights along the bypass and increased the time they all stay red. It really makes any trip up or down the bypass much longer. Sadly, if anything, it’s made the traffic worse not better changing the sequence of the lights… But like pretty much everything in Texas, what they do to improve our lives usually makes them worse… Go figure.

Well it’s pleasant as the morning is, I need to get up and get on with it… So, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for the nation and the world.

Catch you on the other side…
