According to the almanac it’s first light right now… but Tropical Storm Beta is putting a lie to that. The only light in the sky is the reflection of civilization on the underside of the cloud cover. It’s loud out, the blustery, gusty winds are making the leaves sing. Shadows race across the sky from east to west… there’s a storm in the gulf.

Ten minutes after first light the sky slowly brightens. Yesterday was a bit strange… it started out at 68 degrees and only warmed to 72. Not something I’d normally associate with the end of summer… not that you’ll ever hear me complain about a day like that.

7:03 am

A great horned owl was calling just now from the woods. Our neighborhood crows are cawing across the sky on their morning rounds. And a bit of mist blows across the porch on the breeze.

It’s light enough to see the light, misty rain as it blows by. A misty, rainy Monday morning… Sunrise has lightened the world around me… but still the owl calls.

Well, school is not happening today… it’s a storm day you know. So, after a long boring weekend, the grandkids will have a long boring non school day today.

I think I’ll go in and actually watch the news today… y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the world.
