Thursday, August Second

I’m out a bit earlier than usual and it’s cooler on this morning coffee muses.

The dew is heavy on the grass this morning. The only breeze stirring the air today is from my floor fan.

The first bird on my feeder today was chickadee… and a titmouse. I’ve always been a bit surprised at how much the two species hang out together year round.

Somehow I managed to get behind in watching Critical Role… so I’ve found myself playing catchup in watching the show/game. The thing about that is, each episode here lately has run 5 hours long. It makes for some immersive binge watching. I still have two episodes to go and another comes out tonight.

And, out in the mimosa tree the squirrels are still eating the dry beans. Seeing as how I’ve never sat out here on the front porch for my morning muse before I’ve missed this behavior in the past.

I must say, I’ve come to enjoy the view out here in the morning. It really is a park like setting. And, after the rain on Tuesday, the greens are looking much refreshed.

The milkweed by the back porch is covered with monarch caterpillars. All summer long I’ve wondered where they were… well, now they’re here. Their little green jewel cases are showing up along the back wall of the house. I’m looking forward to sending dozens of butterflies on their journey south…
