Friday, August Third

The feeder is busy, the humidity isn’t as high… it’s a beautiful morning coffee muses.

I stepped out on the back porch for the pictures, but I’m sitting on the front porch for the muses. I figured, it’s been awhile since I’ve shown the backyard, so a refresher would be cool.

The first birds on my feeder today were a pair of tufted titmouses and a Carolina chickadee. Followed by more chickadees and titmouses, a cardinal and a blue jay. Then a rubythroat started chasing chickadees…

The end of week traffic sounds heavier than earlier in the week. It could be just the air condition allowing more sound to carry… ’cause even the birds sound louder today.

I spent a lot of time up under these front yard trees. For almost twenty years, sitting on the front porch meant sitting almost at the road with no view of the sky at all. Then came Ike… and suddenly great holes were torn in the canopy. Where holes weren’t torn, most of the canopy was stripped of it’s leaves and small limbs. Sitting here now is almost a return to those earlier years… just much further from the road.

It’s time to move in and turn on the news…
