Tuesday, June nineteenth

Warm and muggy, tropical air, no cooling rains… a gulf coast morning coffee muses.

The prognosticators promised rains… all day yesterday, all day today… but the rains only came down a bit yesterday morning. Then they stopped. Now the radar says we may get some later in the day, or not. But, at this moment, we are in a clear spot between to large areas of rain and the sun is out.

The first bird on a feeder today was a rubythroated hummingbird. Followed by a cardinal on the seed feeder. The cardinals are the predominant bird in the yard right now. There must be three broods learning to live in both the front and back yards. Flashes of rust and red are everywhere.

The clouds are closing in once more. And the wind is kicking up as well. It’s still not as nice as it was yesterday morning… not as cool.

Overcast days like this are kind of cool. They lend an air of mystery to the woods at the back of the yard. Including the calf peeking at me from the corner of my yard just the other side of the fence.

It’s time to head in… laundry day you know…
