Tuesday, 25th of May

OMG… I see blue up in the sky. For the first time in what seems like weeks, we are not totally overcast. Though, truth be told, it’s still warm and humid… 74°. Not my favorite place to start the day on the temperature scale.

On a secondary note… The mosquitoes are back. I was actually thanking the February freeze for having kept the pesky critters in check for a while this year. But now ‘there be mosquitoes here’. Little, black, almost invisible black dots surrounding the car’s windows.

With the sun coming up in a mostly unclouded sky, the whistling ducks were playing in the trees this morning. Circleing around, whistling, and settling into and on to the tree limbs in my front yard. Their antiques bring a smile, and a chuckle, and I have to point them out to the grandkids… Even though they find it hard to believe that there are ducks sitting in our trees.

Governor Greg Abbott is at it again exerting centralized control and usurping local government powers. His latest bill of autocratic rule band s local control of police budgets. Well let’s be precise it bands local governments from lowering and prioritizing their police budgets.

This is becoming the rule of Republican policy making… If you can even call it policy making. Anytime local governments, elected by the people, disagree with the autocrats at the state level, the local government his band from doing what the local voters actually want done.

I suppose Republican politicians have taken the lesson of Trump to heart. Autocrats rule. Even when the rules fly in opposition to real democracy.

Oh well, it’s laundry day, so my progressive rant is over… for now. Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for the nation and the world.

Enjoy a dryer and of May… Hopefully.
