Tuesday, 18th of May

It’s 68° and raining. Thunderstorms are moving through the area… And according to all the forecasts they will be all week. Yesterday was rainy off and on, Sunday was rainy almost all day, and from the looks of the radar today will be a wet one.

But hey, my laundry is started, both grandkids are on the buses headed for school, and I’m still working on my second cup of coffee. Not a terrible start to a gloomy wet day.

I actually got the opportunity to visit with my mother for the first time in months. I was picking up her income tax papers to file this year’s tax return… Luckily, the IRS has extended the deadline for Texans to file till June 15th. So I guess there was a silver lining to the Arctic blast from February.

After 5 days of my wife being off work I find I need to fill the car up with gas. So that’s a chore I get to do on this rainy Tuesday morning. My oldest daughter gets her second coronavirus vaccination tomorrow morning. She is the last of my kids to get her vaccinations. I guess then it’ll be time to start on the grandkids, though only one is old enough at the moment.

I see in the news that Mitch McConnell’s two stolen seats on the supreme Court are fixing to pay off for the minority of ultra conservative Americans. Pretty much the consensus of what I keep reading says that the supreme Court will take a run at Roe v Wade. I’m beginning to see exactly what Republicans really mean when they say cancel culture… It’s not just culture they want to cancel, it’s any history they don’t agree with.

I’m hearing a fairly steady rumble of thunder outside, though the rain has stopped momentarily. I suppose this will be the soundtrack of my day today, and probably tomorrow.

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, pray for the nation in the world.

Stay dry, stay comfortable… Enjoy the day.
