March 9, Tuesday

I’ve already opened the windows this morning. The outside temperature is 59°. Overnight the house held a 69° temperature. With the forecast high being in the seventies today, and lows overnight being forecast for the mid to upper 60s, I assume it will be time to kick over to AC again… Especially, if the sun keeps shining.

There are birds all over the feeders this morning. And birds singing in the distance. And does a low, low mumble in the distance, the sounds of chickens… Most likely roosters talking amongst themselves.

Looking around, as I drive from place to place, spring is becoming evident. Not quite everywhere yet, but leaves are bursting out of buds. Some flowers are showing up. What wasn’t damaged by the freeze is already starting to look green again.

But one thing that seems to be happening a lot is grass fires. There was even a large accidental burn after Nash Prairie over the weekend. The black and spotted my neighbor’s yard from a little over a week ago is already covered in so I would imagine in a week or so the Nash will be green again. And, as I recall, after a burn on the Nash the wild flowers are really spectacular. I look forward to a trip that way in the coming weeks.

Well, my second cup of coffee is gone. Chores are calling my name. And the early rumbles of my stomach asking for breakfast have started. So, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray… For the nation and the world.

For those of you in the south, enjoy the beginnings of spring. For my northern friends, enjoy your remnants of winter.
