31st of January, Sunday

It’s very bright out today. A cloudless blue sky. But still, it feels like spring, in the middle of winter. The weather app says it’s 57° out. While on the back porch, the sun has warmed it into the sixties. The cold front has passed us by. Tonight’s low will be in the low 40s, so, winter will be back.

It’s Sunday morning quiet around here. Pretty much the way I like it.

I’m just discovered the story of Erin French and The Lost Kitchen. There is something about a narrative like hers that really touches me. To return to her roots and open a restaurant that only seats 40 and turn it into a world class culinary event… It’s an amazing, amazing story. So I guess I must think Discovery plus for introducing me to her story. She is now on my radar. I will be keeping track of her.

It’s funny how people can come to your attention and touch a cord in your soul. You never know who they might be or where they might be. But you know it when it happens.

The American goldfinches are massing on the feeders. And, the Carolina Wren is looking for insects and whatever else might be out there. And blackbirds are flying as they do. Cardinals in their winter drabness come and go, spooking the smaller birds.

I’ve already started breakfast working this morning. Bacon is rendering slowly on the stove. It will be followed by scrambled eggs. So I have a bit of time yet to finish my first cup of coffee.

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our Nation and the world.

Have a wonderful day.
