It’s rather late this morning, and though I’ve been up awhile my blog reader demanded more than the normal amount of attention… And then I began cooking breakfast.

Bacon and eggs are done, so back to the morning coffee muses.

I read a column by David Brooks this week where he was optimistically seeing Wednesday’s Trumpian insurrection as a chance for the Republican Party to have an epiphany… But I must say , David Brooks has been looking for the better angels in the Republican psyche for the better part of a decade. And if I recall by biblical history… Satan was a fallen angel too… Not that I would equate any of today’s crop of Republicans with angels in any way.

The calls for removing Trump from office continue to grow. I read somewhere that Moscow Mitch even promised a Senate Trial after the inauguration… Seems like it isn’t his place in that timeframe to promise anything. Old habits must die hard. In my mind, if Pence doesn’t at least call for a vote on the 25th Amendment, his political life will have run it’s course. Even if the vote didn’t pass, at least it would convince some of the voters that they cared for the rule of law.

I hope the Secret Service has paid attention this week. If the security around the President-elect and the Vice-President-elect isn’t increased in the aftermath of this last week someone’s head should roll. If the intent, if not the reality of the lengths Trump supporters will go to keep Democrats out of power hasn’t been shown I don’t know what has.

In less than two weeks, no matter what, Trump will be gone from the White House. What he manages to instigate between now and then will be on his head. What his supporters do, will be laid at his feet too. As the old saying goes, “You reap what you sow”, and the Trumps have sown a lot of hate in the past five years… is it any wonder that they’ve found themselves on the receiving end of that hate?
