7th of January, Thursday

I find myself still in shock after the attempted coup we saw in Washington yesterday. I cannot fathom the justifications Trump supporters may have for the actions of the insurrectionist who took over our capitol.

Watching it all play out in real time on television was shocking. I was already watching as my junior senator made a ass of himself, pushing Donald Trump’s BS about a stolen election. His professed reasoning that so many Americans were troubled by irregularities in the vote was crap. The only Americans troubled by the allegations of irregularities were the ones listening to Donald Trump and his enablers in Congress.

I think the thing that shocked me the most was the total lack of any police presence during this riot. After a year or more of watching police violently put down peaceful protesters, seeing them cuddle all of these white thugs was to say the least disturbing. We all know that had these rioters been BLM demonstrators, the outcome would have been decidedly different. Where were the arrest, where were the rubber bullets, where was the law and order response.

Cruz and Hawley and they’re compatriots in Congress should all be censored, their actions we’re un-American. Having the right to do something does not make it right to do that thing.

Long have we known that President Trump was not fit for the office he held. Long have his actions been totally unpresidential. But inciting this riot makes it imperative that he be removed from his office now. And he did incite the actions of those he invited to Washington to participate in these actions.

I cannot believe that this country has been reduced to this level of autocracy. May God take mercy on all of us as we try to to overcome what Donald Trump has wrought upon our once great nation.
