It’s another unseasonable winter’s day. The temperature is a mild 70°. There’s just the slightest of breezes blowing on the back porch here. The wind chimes or tinkling their little music. The sun is finally breaking through the clouds. And a chickadee is sitting above my head on the feeder.

I keep spending my time thinking about this past year. It’s been a rough one. It’s been a long one. It’s been a lonely year. It’s not just being socially distanced and alone that’s made it so lonely. It’s really being forced to come to grips with the dichotomy of American political thought that has made it so lonely. To be forced to accept that almost half of America believes that there are really such a thing as “alternative facts”, is a scary, scary proposition.

I guess the part that boggles my mind, is the spoken belief by my friends and relatives on the right that they’re entitled to their own opinions when an actuality they are expressing the belief that they are entitled to their own facts. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard from them, that they don’t know whose “facts” to believe. When all of the “facts” they are getting are coming from the President’s personal talking heads (our his own lying mouth) .

I heard someone on the TV make the statement yesterday that no matter what Trump lost. It’s time to quit listening, to quit reporting, to quit paying attention to his Trumpian tantrums. Come January the 20th Donald J Trump will become irrelevant to the conversation America needs to have. The extent to which the news media keeps him at the forefront is a problem we will all have to live with and understand. Because if there’s one thing Donald J Trump seems to be good at it is staying at the forefront of media attention. May the new year bring an ending to the obsession that the media has foisted upon all of us by following every utterance, every tweet, every temper tantrum, every lie coming from Donald j Trump.

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our nation and the world. Have a great next to the last day of 2020.
