The sun rose over an hour ago. It’s warmer and there’s enough humidity to fog my glasses just a bit as I walked out. I had to increase the speed of the ceiling fans back to full power.

The hummingbirds are fighting as usual. A daddy longlegs scurries across the porch. A single whistling duck flys by. A crow caws his way across the sky. A donkey brays across Mustang Bayou. And, way off in the distance, a train whistle blows… And so goes Sunday morning on the back porch.

The kumquat tree almost glows with ripening fruit. Fruit so sour I can’t find anyone who will eat it. They are almost as big as grapefruit and many times more sour. My poor little satsuma orange is only about three feet tall and has four fruit on it. Almost more fruit than leaves on the main trunk.

The sun is so bright it glares of the screen of my phone. I guess I should wear a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. The temperature is rising quickly sitting here in the sun… I’ll be retreating indoors shortly. There won’t be any sitting out and checking email today. That next front can’t arrive too soon for me.

It’s time to run and hide from the heat… Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the world.
