Sunrise facing southeast.

The temperature outside this morning is delightful. A couple of degrees below that magical 70 degrees Fahrenheit on the thermometer. And after days and days of winds from Beta, it’s still this morning.

The outsized remnants of Beta have moved into Alabama and Tennessee. Once the storm decided to move, it went…

It’s a minute past first light. Not much light out. My owl I’ve been hearing is once again calling softly from the woods. We are still a couple of days from the autumn equalux… the day night and day are the same length.

Five minutes after sunrise facing south.

I am writing this as the world wakes up around me… Looking at radar this morning I noticed a nice frontal boundary half way out in the gulf. I wonder if the majority of the hummingbirds have moved on. I just heard the first one of the morning buzz by…

There’s enough light out now to see we still have a full overcast working this morning. I guess sunrise will be rather anemic. I finally talked the owl into investigating my calls back at him or her… I always love to see an owl on the wing…

The neighborhood crows are raising a ruckus off to the north. I have to wonder if they are harassing my owl that just headed that way…

Judging by the battles around the feeders this morning, we may actually have even more hummingbirds in residence waiting to head south over the gulf.

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the world.

  1. I’m seeing more hummingbirds, too. There aren’t clouds of them, but there are enough that I can hear them fussing with one another. Such fun!

    1. As they buzz about the porch with me on it my granddaughter pokes her head out and says “pawpaw the himmingbirds really love you, they fly all around you”. There is no better way to have your morning coffee.
