Sunday, November Twenty-fifth

Another foggy start to a morning coffee muses.

The long rush towards Christmas is making itself felt. Just one month until the shopping madness gives way to the “Oh my God, what have I done” recriminations.

Once again, we walk the balance beam of heart felt gifts of gratitude and love and an excess of consumerism.

My muse this morning is filled with thoughts of all the newly homeless in California. Many missing family members. Just finding a place to lay their heads this holiday season will prove problematic in a reagion with so much devastation.

Then there’s Florida and the Carolinas, hit by hurricanes this season… you haven’t heard much recently about their recovery. Another reason to feel blessed this year…

There is a phenomenon on the gulf coast in the cooler months where the more it looks like winter outside… usually  anyway,  the warmer the temperature is. Take today, it’s overcast, foggy and damp… but the temperature is already pushing seventy.

Tomorrow, it’ll be sunny and in the low forties. By Tuesday morning it’ll hit the upper thirties. This is what we call winter weather,  it’s just hitting a month early.

Time to go fix breakfast…

  1. Happy transitions! I hope your Thanksgiving was great, and that you were able to avoid the shopping madness. I’m ready for the wind to blow out some of this fog — but you’re right. This is our sign of winter coming: warm air over colder water. It’s nearly lifted now, so I might do a little out-and-abouting to see what I can see. The days are so short now that if fog makes a later start necessary, I’m limited in how far I can go. Of course, I could stay home and do some housekeeping, but…

    1. Thanks Linda, Thanksgiving was a bit less stressful than normal. And so far I’ve avoided anything but the normal restocking shopping. I just saw that the cold front should be blowing thru around noon… so the fog should be gone shortly. And since we’ve been home putting up the decorations… a quick trip out to the WallyMart won’t be too stressful.
