Not as cool, a bit more humid, but the season has finally turned morning coffee muses.
Even with the ceiling fans on there’s a layer of moisture on the bald spot on my head. The freshly mown yard looks sweet.
Birds are playing all around. Ruby-throated hummingbirds are more prevalent today. It looks like another migration group is building in ahead of the next cool front.
I installed both the Merlin app and the eBird app yesterday… so now I can add checklists of birds from my phone. And, if I don’t recognize a bird, Merlin can take a shot at identifying it.
I had to open the umbrella to block the sun. This heat sink of a back porch was in full heating mode.
Blue jays are calling in large numbers from the woods. Dragonflies are patrolling the air all the way to the top of the trees.
The high clouds are drifting east, while the low clouds are movingfaster to the north.
Time to move inside where air is much more seasonal feeling at least.
I have both of those apps, and Merlin, especially, has been really useful. I think you’ll like them. I wish there was a similar app for birdsong. I’ve been trying for a month to identify a bird I can’t spot but hear every morning. The crazy thing is over in the marina, so you’d think it would be easy to spot, but I haven’t yet.
I’ve had them for just a day and I already love them. The eBird app is going to be open each day as I write my posts.
And I understand your frustration about the birdsong, I’m often hearing a bird whose song I don’t recognise. And I’m sure someone will one day have an app that will do just what you are wishing for….
