Saturday, October Sixth

For the third straight day the sun is out, the humidity is down, and the heat is back for my morning coffee muses.

Yesterday I mowed, as evidenced by the rows of clippings in the yard. It was a slow process, what with almost three weeks of growth once again.

Once again my world is full of sadness… A minority President, nominated a man to the Supreme Court who was approved by a minority of Americans, who was voted thru by Senators representing a minority of American Senators. This is the second time this has happened. So the direction of the court for the rest of my lifetime has been stolen from the majority of our fellow citizens. America is broken, being broken by a minority of citizens in distrust of the majority. They can claim anything they wish… but this is the truth.

When Barack Obama won a majority of the vote and the Presidency in 2008, Mitch McConnell stated his job was to obstruct. And so he and his party did… Right down to stealing a Supreme Court seat. Absolutely nothing preserves a seat on the Supreme Court to an ideological party… In fact, historically, the Supreme Court was supposed to be above politics. And the raw partisan way in which this nomination was handled… Let’s just quote Brett Kavanaugh… “What goes around comes around.”

Tomorrow I am heading out into the hinterlands where my Republican relatives will be celebrating their victory. I will try not to cry…

Time to move on.
