Saturday, September Eighth

It’s a chickadee morning coffee muses.

It’s sunny and still cool in front of the fan out here on the porch. Yesterday’s threats of rain never materialized at our house. Though, the streets were wet a half mile away. And over and over dark clouds and thunder kept me off the Toro… I should have mowed. And the never-ending puddle is now gone.

It almost seems that the oppressive heat of summer has ended… but, I’m not fooled.

I was just thinking how few cardinals I’ve been seeing. So one flew down and landed in the chaste tree over my shoulder.

The morning is relatively quiet. What traffic going by on the road isn’t in a hurry, so the noise level is way down.

The feeder has a steady procession of chickadees and titmice. The hummingbirds are back and forth from feeder to blooms, battling for a superior position.

All in all, it’s a really pleasant morning to be outside… except for the mosquitoes, of course.

The rain chances for today are the lowest I’ve seen in a week. And, from the prognosticators foretelling the lowest they’ll be for another week. Gotta love this wet summer if for no other reason than the way the world is still green.

Coffee’s gone… muses done for another day.
