Tuesday, August Twenty-eighth

The day is cloudy, cool, threatening rain on all sides… a perfect late August morning coffee muses.

Thunder woke me before six this morning. It wasn’t extensive, it didn’t last long, so I dozed back off. Now the overall cloud cover is keeping the sun contained or right now I wouldn’t be sitting where I am.

Before I walked out I had a blue jay on the feeder. The hummingbirds are already chasing each other around.

The city crew managed to did the ditch out all the way to my driveway before reopening the road to traffic yesterday afternoon. Once the morning rush is done, they will start digging up my driveway to replace the culverts. Then, from the sound of it, they’ll be scooping out the ditch all the way across my yard and stopping. I guess mowing the ditch is about to become problematic.

Right now, I’m hoping the garbage truck comes along soon because the can at the road is full.

It’s cool enough today to make me dream of fall weather. The breeze from the fan is enough for a very comfortable morning. It’s really nice sitting out, not like the mornings the past few weeks where all I could think about was getting back inside

The chickadees and titmice have arrived. It sounds like there is a fledgling in the group begging to be fed.

The sun is finally breaking thru… but it’s already high enough not to bother me.

A Carolina wren is announcing it’s presence in the pecan tree. And now a cardinal has arrived on the feeder.
