2023 Day 230

Friday August 18th

Well yesterday morning was definitely a one of… The pleasantly cool morning on the front porch without a fan was definitely too much to expect a repeat. Though, I do see some upper 70s for overnight lows in the upcoming forecast…

But for now, the first bus has come and the wait for the second is on. And from the looks of things the morning fog is settling in and I need to step out on the back porch and record the day…

Now I’m back on the front porch awaiting the arrival of the second bus… Luckily for me, there are a few clouds hugging the Eastern horizon .. managing to run interference between my eyes and the sun. It’s still quite bright and glaring. But, it will be some time yet before the sun transitions for enough south for the house to cash shade upon this porch.

We’re in kind of a doldrum as the heat and the drought continue to stretch on and on. Even the morning bird song is subdued. The lack of rain and the heat of the Sun is visible throughout my yard.. The only green remaining is directly in the shade of the trees. Everything not shaded has turned brown. These brown summers are quite common here. Though the occasional wet summers and continuous green grass happen often enough that they impress themselves upon our memories.

The bus has made it’s appearance, so my time on this porch is over. I’m headed back into the house where the climate is more conducive to my continued comfort. So y’all stay cool and I’ll catch you all on the other side.
