2023 Day 183

Sunday July 2nd

It’s Sunday morning.. and I’m sitting on the back porch in my rocking chair. Other than the sound of the ceiling fans, and just a little bit of noise from the bypass, I am hearing the loud singing of a Carolina wren as the sun coming up colors the clouds.

Speaking of clouds.. this is the first morning in a while that the sky has had something in it. And while the temperatures are high.. The dew point is high.. and the humidity is high.. I decided to spend just a bit of time in my rocking chair. I won’t be out here long though, because what’s the sun is up, the temperatures will start climbing.

It’s a bit interesting. As I’ve been sitting here watching the clouds lighting up as the sun rises.. I’ve noticed the clouds to the east or staying still while the clouds to the west or slowly drifting north.

Usually it is later in the day The clouds start drifting over. But it looks like the weather, she is about to change.. just a little anyway. Gulf moisture is finally starting to flow back up north over the top of us. In a day or two that will mean scattered showers.. in a day or two.. and scattered.

It’s been so hot and sunny that my backyard is showing some brown spots. Something I haven’t missed for the past couple of years. Something I would just assume this this year.

Last night before bedtime, I was already starting to hear fireworks. That’s a common thing around here. People getting the jump on any holiday that “requires” the use of explosives to celebrate. I hope they’re very careful in their celebrations because our volunteer fire department doesn’t need the practice.

Well.. My coffee should be brewed. And it’s beginning to get sticky out here.. so y’all enjoy your Sunday and I’ll catch y’all on the other side…

AM update…

What I discovered this morning after I posted the above was that we had a limb fall last night from one of our front yard oak trees..

It might not be evident from the pictures but that is a very big limb. We have this happen occasionally during severe heat and drought situations. One of the big limbs will just blow up and let loose.

This is the second time one of my oak trees has dropped a big massive limb onto where our house used to be. Boy am I glad we’re not in the old house still.
