My two colorful trees just before sunup this morning. I am continually amazed by the rapidity of the change in the colors on the red oak. Though, truth be told, the Bald Cypress is taking a decidedly reddish turn this fall. And, as the pictures in the previous post showed, the small red oak over by the shed, while mostly still green, is beginning to show beautiful red coloration.

Of course, the deepness of the colors in these photos comes as much from the hour and the light fog in the air as from the actual colors of the leaves.

That being said, and looking over past years photos I would say we are a week or two ahead of schedule for peak color.

And as much as it’s looking like fall, today’s temperature is supposed to reach 79°. With high temperatures this weekend projected to top 80°. Now granted, between now and then we have a cool front blowing through with overnight lows tomorrow night in the mid-40s…
