thursday

Out on the front porch this morning waiting for the school bus. It’s bright, it’s cool, there’s even a hummingbird at the feeder.

Traffic sounds are loud. Beep beep beep of the construction critters cuts the morning air. Vehicles speed by on the road in front of the house… Almost no one drives the speed limit.

We’re at that awkward stage in the development of the subdivision in front of me. They’ve stripped all the trees and grass between here and there. The complete 105 acres has been stripped and laid bare. So the sounds from the bypass are now much more prominent at any time in the past. You can hear the backhoes digging, the front end loaders loading, the dump trucks dumping.

We’ve reached the point where I’d rather it be completed houses and all. At least the houses would deflect some of the noise… But I would imagine that the sounds of construction are going to be with us for a few years at least.

And as the sun rises this morning it really highlights the Mimosa beans…

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and say a prayer for our dysfunctional country and the world… I’ll catch y’all on the other side…
