The twenty-sixth of September

It’s Monday

The still before the storm… Well, at least the steel before the front. It’s warm out, they’re reporting that it’s 76° this morning. That’s warm, really warm to start the day. Though the prognosticators are promising a fairly radical change overnight. Tomorrow’s low is projected to be 63°.

As you can see, the high today is going to be oppressive. But the rest of the week looks fairly nice for an early fall. What a difference the width of a country can make … Here’s the forecast from Cold Spring, New York where my son used to live…

After the summer we’ve had, I’ll be quite happy with this coming week. I mean hell, look at it, there’s a 58° in the forecast… I can’t wait.

My friends it has been a long—so very long —summer. We have seen record warmth in June and July, and plenty of high temperatures in the upper 90s during the last week. A total of 131 days have come and gone since Houston’s high temperature first hit 95 degrees this year, on May 18. Fortunately, I’m pretty confident that today is the last day of summer 2022.

Eric Berger, Fall’s first real cold front will push into Houston today, and it will stay around for awhile

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and say a prayer for our dysfunctional country and the world… I’ll catch y’all on the other side…
