The 28th of June, Twenty Twenty-two

It’s Tuesday

Today I got out of bed early and walked out on the porch… Early. The sun hadn’t passed the horizon. As a matter of fact, the eastern sky was just a pink glow.

Last night, just about bedtime, a small thunderstorm blew over us. It didn’t last all that long… It didn’t drop all that much rain. And it sure didn’t drop the temperature much. But, the grass looks a little moister today, a little greener today… And if the prognosticators can be trusted, the rest of the week should do something about our moisture deficit.

I stopped and watched the construction site for a while yesterday. I started digging what looks to be a second detention pond. It looks like this site has more clay than the sand of the other site. As a matter of fact, they appear to be taking the clay soil out of one hole and dumping it in the other at the same time they are taking sand out of the other hole and piling it on site to raise the elevation.

Since FEMA has changed the flood zone maps massively around here, they’re having to raise the entire 100 acres what looks like 3 to 4 ft. Well everything except the big holes digging…

Well, I’m about ready to take it inside and hide from the heat of the day. So, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our dysfunctional nation… I’ll catch y’all on the other side…

  1. Most of the rain that did come last night scooted just barely south of us, and we ended up with about .01″. Still, there was a good dousing for about five minutes, and believe me — the frogs and crickets and whatever sounded pretty happy about it!
