Monday

Think of that surge of joy we feel,
 Upon seeing the magnificence
Of which the sky is capable,
As a sort of call and response:
An echo and reminder
Of the magnificent possibilities within us,
Waiting to bloom forth and be seen.

Overnight the weather gods decided to frost our world… The overnight low dropped just a bit more than the prognosticators foretold. So, after having summer last until after Christmas, winter has shown it’s face on the SE Coast of Texas… Yes, I know that all of my northern friends and relatives are laughing at this southern boy talkin’ about winter when the temperature is only 32 degrees and the ground is still mostly green…

Sitting in my living room looking out at the sunlit backporch, I can see water dripping from the end of the gutter as the frost melts in the sunlight. And that sunlight will have us up to almost 70 degrees by the afternoon high… With Wednesday’s high projected to be pushing 80 degrees before it turns around again. The high on Thursday is only projected to be 50… And by Thursday night, the “feels like” temperature will fall into the 20’s. You gotta love Texas’ roller coaster weather…

We are still a month away from the anniversary of Texas Blackout, so chances are we have plenty of winter to live through… And not much has changed in that year in the state of the Texas electrical grid. Though, I did hear a report last week that the regulatory agency in charge is understaffed due to the Omicron surge. But like everything else in Texas, our Governor isn’t doing anything about it. He’s to busy running to the right trying to capture the “Big Lie” vote. Funny thing is, the big lie is that the Texas grid is in good shape and everything that can be done has been.

In honor of the beautiful day outside, here’s a group I’m liking a lot here lately…

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and say a prayer for our dysfunctional country and the world… I’ll catch y’all on the other side…
