Thursday

There’s still water standing in the low spots. When I took the garbage bins to the road yesterday evening water was standing across the driveway and the yard itself was squishy. So needless to say, the ground around here is saturated.

It does make it nice for the waiting birds and the cattle egrets. They can walk across the yard and just pick up their meals. Yesterday afternoon when I stepped out a little blue heron flew over. Those guys are not a common sight away from the bio here.

I actually fired up the fan on the front porch today. I haven’t been using it because I haven’t been really sitting outside. But the temperature is not too bad, though the humidity is up there of course. It’s sticky out but livable.

Of course, not spending my days, excuse me my mornings out on the porch, I haven’t really been listening lately to the birds of summer.

The canopy of my oak trees is looking for and healthier than it has in years probably since hurricane Ike. That was 2008. And the trees have looked pretty bear ever since those wins blew through the area. Add in the lack of rain for a number of years and the trees had no hopes of recouping their canopy. Though there have been quite a few years when the mass crop was extensive.

Well my coffee calls and it’s almost time for breakfast… So y’all stay safe, stay healthy, pray for the nation and the world.
