June 21st, Monday

Stepping out on the front porch this morning I find the temperature in the humidity almost the same. While the temperature may be higher at 83°, when you factor in the humidity at 81% it’s just… Summer in Texas.

Yesterday was the first time in many years that all four of my kids and all five of my grandkids were in the house at the same time on Father’s Day.

It’s still a lot to process… My oldest will turn 40 this year. My oldest grandson is almost as tall as I am. Folks, I think I’m getting old.

And since the get together wasn’t planned, lunch rolled around without a menu. After votes were taken amongst the gathered clan, fried chicken one out. My wife’s mind was totally boggled at the fact that anyone can spend $80 on chicken and sides from Popeyes. I refrained from saying something to the effect that meals for just the two of us run $20. And the two youngest granddaughters were quite happy with pizza rolls…

Then once it was down to just number two son and his wife, I introduced him to Critical Role. Turns out younger son has never played dungeons & dragons though he has read some of the older books. I can only hope he wasn’t bored to death.

My oldest son had to point out to me that this was the 39th version that I’ve been celebrated on Father’s Day. That’s kind of crazy… It means I will soon match my own father’s run.

Well the coffee cups empty, and daylight’s burning… Literally. So y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for the nation and the world.
