It’s a beautiful clear morning. Temperature in the mid 50s. Cloudless skies. Sunshine hitting the tree limbs, making them stand out beautifully.
A cool list of the morning will only be with us for the day. Tomorrow we’re back up in the sixties, upper sixties. With highs pushing 80 and above. Some years spring is just too short. Though, the trees are filling with green leaves, and the bushes that bloom are beginning to bloom. Daytime temperatures in the 80s tend to send me into hibernation in the AC. I sometimes wonder just how we were able to survive the Texas heat in our pre air condition days.
Sometimes, as I read the post at Redtree Times, I think Gary is writing specifically to me. His post this morning is one of those posts with his discussion of when a painting is complete. As I began this experimental journey playing with brushes and paints his artist lessons touch me… Teach me… Inspire me.
I have my first two attempts sitting on my easel, staring at me, mocking me in a way. Both screaming that I need to paint more, learn more techniques, learn brush work, learn color. Both show I study of Gary’s work. Well trying not to imitate, I see much that actually might be construed that way. Hopefully, I will begin to find my own “voice”.
Oh well I’m burning through the coffee pot and I have things to contemplate. So, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our nation and our world.
Enjoy your Friday…
Looking good, Gary! Hey, when you’re starting you are always taking a little here and there until you have enough to make something of your own. Every artist has started that way. Keep it up, Gary !! Here’s a post about borrowing: https://redtreetimes.com/2012/03/10/steal-like-an-artist/
Thanks Gary. Quite literally those are the first two attempts at putting paint on anything other than a D&D miniature in over half a century… I am trying tp learn to replicate some of your techniques without “stealing” your subject matter.
