March 27, Saturday

It’s another dark and overcast morning. We’re starting out fairly warm at 71°. There’s a chance of rain all weekend long… We’ll just have to wait and see. Can’t help but green up the browns of winter…

As I was taking the photos above, I saw the first whistling ducks of the year flying over the backyard. It’s kind of funny, you don’t miss something until you identify it. As long as I just knew they were ducks and my trees I was just happy to see them once in a while. Once Linda identified them for me they became almost family. I would see them everyday last summer and fall until, suddenly they weren’t here anymore. Now they’re back. I’m happy.

I’ve mentioned that I’m on a artistic journey of discovery. Trying my hand back paining late in life. So far that only means that I’ve put two paintings on paper. Very crude attempts but I’m learning. Here’s a shot of my very first attempt…

Sunrise After the Freeze
Sunrise After the Freeze, March 2021

I tried this one on multimedia paper with no coating. And the paper really seemed to soak up the paint. I also have discovered I was trying to use crushes that I feel were oversized for the size of the painting. More experiments will be required…

Well it’s time to get moving for the weekend. Breakfast calls. A trip to the grocery store is required. Probably a trip to Sam’s Club for our bulk needs.

So, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our nation and our world.

Enjoy your weekend.
