11th of January, Monday

We just missed a winter wonderland yesterday.

As I watched the weather unfold yesterday across the state of Texas I noticed the radar was showing freezing precipitation, snow, just to the north of us in Pearland at one point. While it was cold, and windy, it wasn’t cold enough to turn our rain into snow. Today the weather that brought snow to most of Texas has moved on to the east. I hope that everyone that had snow on Sunday enjoyed the experience of winter in the south.

Of course the news this weekend and this morning is filled with stories from January the 6th. The one silver lining to this entire fiasco is no more tweets from the president. It really would have been nice if someone could have shut his tweets down earlier. But then again, it really would have been nice had he at some point in his four years read the instruction manual for the job he aspired to. But then again, it’s been years since I’ve seen a comic book version of our Constitution. I’m sure they still exist, I just haven’t seen one.

I’m seeing you stories today that say the members of Congress who backed the president’s faultless claim of faulty elections are now being promised by many companies across America a loss of campaign funds. I guess, that’s one way of hurting them where they live. Taking the money they need to run for office away from them.

I’m also hearing, that’s some Democrats don’t think impeachment should happen just because it may hamper than you administrations ability to pass their legislation. I feel this is a faulty argument. The rule of law is not something that should be postponed or neglected out of a sense of getting things done. Laws have been broken, norms have been abolished, and justice needs to be done. Donald Trump needs to have his political ambitions squashed for the good of the country.

But the priority for the new administration must be covid-19. Something the president has neglected cannot be neglected any longer. Mask mandates are necessary and required. Just look at January the 6th and the crowds the president attracted. Mostly unmasked. We should see a real spike in the virus outbreak in a couple of weeks all over the country as these ” American patriots ” go home.

Well, I’m on the downward spiral of my morning coffee. So I guess, it’s time to move along. Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray, pray for this nation that we get through this nightmare of Donald Trump.
