It’s cold and crisp this morning. The sounds of trains, traffic, and crows fill the pre-sunup day. Birds chirp and chatter. And every breath I take is visible in the air before me.

I find myself at a loss for words today. Sitting, listening, thinking… not writing.

It’s just after the hour and the traffic sounds have died down. There seems to be a lull in the trains passing by. Even the birds that were so active have settled in, seemingly to await the warning day.

The sun has now risen enough to be felt on the side of my face. Streaks of sunlight even reach the ground now.

A  phenomenon I’ve noticed is the temperature difference between the front porch and back porch during the day. The front porch faces almost due north, the back porch south. At the height of the day there’s a 10 degree difference from one to the other. On cold days that differential is appreciated, on warm ones, not so much.

My coffee cup is empty and my fingers a bit numb, though warming up nicely. Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the world. Wear a damn mask. Socially distance when out and about.
