The shaded front yard calls me today. A place where the crickets and the cicadas harmonize. Neither of whom are overly loud this morning.

Traffic seems lighter this end of week morning. It’s also moving at a more sedate and legal pace.

I’m not sure when the summertime song of my yard transitioned to being all cardinal most of the time. The blue Jay’s are here but not calling… until I typed those words… I haven’t heard a mockingbird in weeks, and I can’t say I’ve seen one either. And mockingbirds are the sound of summer that I remember.

There’s just enough of a breeze to get the wind chimes singing out here this morning.

From my bench here there is just a small chunk of sky visible right above my seat. Everywhere else it’s patches of blue in fields of green. But it amazes me how many different birds pass through that chunk of sky.

Well, I’ve killed most of an hour out here, mostly in my own head. And, as nice as it feels out this morning, I have things I should really do… so… Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a great day.
