Coffee muses on the back porch again. It’s more peaceful out here. Traffic noise from the road out front almost never rises above the white noise of the ceiling fans. As the trees fill out, even the bypass sounds are muted for another season.

Looking east.

You know summer is here when the background sound is the hum of the cicadas, and the lonely call of the mourning dove. Also, when you walk outside and the low for the day is in the mid-seventies, the season has turned and you missed most of the pleasures of spring.

A woodpecker is knocking off to the west. Birds are singing all around. I even here a kingfisher down on the bayou. Many of the birds in the area have already fledged a batch of young. There’s nothing funnier than watching an adult titmouse being chased by three or four smaller versions of itself as it comes to the feeder.

Looking west.

My coffee’s almost gone… time to go in and see what curves the world is throwing our way today. Call someone and let them know you care…
