Thursday, November First

Its a cool and blustery start to a true autumn morning coffee muses.

The morning is dark, overcast and the winds are gusting. Yesterday’s cold front blew thru sometime in the night. The wind is blowing out of the westnorthwest making the trees dance. So far there’s not a patch of blue showing in the sky.

These are the kind of mornings I love come fall. Cool enough for long sleeves and long pants. The winds are keeping the birds hunkered down in the edges of the woods.

Train whistles carry far this morning. Or, maybe it’s just there’s more trains moving on the tracks than usual.

Even the vultures are hunkering down today. One just flew over, low, using the trees to block most of the wind as it cut in and out heading south.

The oak leaves out here are looking a bit dry and shriveled this last week or so. I only hope we get some color before the wind strips the trees. Most of the pecans are already looking a bit bare…

Looking around my world here on the back porch, I’m seeing a lot of yellow leaves sprinkled among the green. Yellow really is the predominant color of fall in this neck of the woods. Yellow flowers, yellow leaves,  yellow grasses… lots and lots of yellow.

Time to read my email and check on the world at large…
