Wednesday, October Seventeenth

Another overcast, cool morning coffee muses.

The hummingbirds are still fighting aerial battles by the dozens. Their chattering the soundtrack of the morning.

My day has a delivery coming this morning. The third appliance in this “new” house has bit the dust. Replacing a dishwasher after six years. The microwaves in both kitchens were the first to go.

It’s another damp morning. Just no misty rain around. The videos and images coming out of the hill country of all of the flooding are surprising. Even having seen the radar images of rain staying to the north and west for a few days didn’t prepare me for the reality of how much rain had fallen.

To all of my friends and family, stay high, stay dry, and don’t be getting caught in any low water crossings.

If these weather events keep happening at the rising rate they are, tax cuts aren’t going to cover the costs to replace the infrastructure we keep losing. And we are losing bridges and roads, it seems like, everywhere…

I need to get in and do some dishes before I do anything else this morning…
