Wednesday January 3

Cold, clear, breezy start to my morning coffee muses.

The overnight low was in the mid twenties. The fact that the sky is mostly clear is allowing the back porch to warm up nicely. The weather station out back is already reading 36°. The sensor above the bedroom door here on the porch is reading 43°.

It’s quiet out this morning. Hardly any traffic sounds from the bypass… just the low roar of the wind in the pines. A nice way to welcome the third day of the year.

I feed my kids New Year’s dinner so I can get them to help haul all of the Christmas decorations into the attic. It’s always nice to reclaim the floor space in our bathroom and bedroom for the New Year.

This is the first time I’ve needed to break out the new umbrella to shade my eyes from the sun. It works as well as I hoped it would, shading my head but allowing the sun to warm the body…

Still no bird movement this morning. They must be hunkered down out of the wind somewhere. Though, now I’m hearing from the neighborhood crows.

Time to move on…
