Overcast With A Chance Of Thunderstorms Morning Coffee Muses
I was having WordPress issues this morning on the back porch, along with chainsaw issues from the neighbors yard… So rather than fight them I just managed to get today’s pictures uploaded and waited to come in to post everything.
As you can see, and know if you live anywhere close we are back to overcast… The story of our climate for the past few months. I almost feel like I’ve moved to Seattle… except… It ain’t cool, there are no mountains, and the “water”is 50 miles away.
With the weather like this it’s a good time to dive back into WikiTrees and play with a little genealogy.
I went up to the hill country this weekend. One thing I did was visit the Willow City loop for the first time. Have you done that? It was absolutely gorgeous. A friend and I spent about seven hours on that 13 mile stretch of road. It wasn’t overrun with people, and the flowers were glorious. We were darned lucky — the mornings were misty gray, but the sun was out by mid-morning. I picked a good time to go, and if you haven’t been there, I highly recommend it.
I’ve done Willow City many times, once upon a time I really wanted to live in Llano County. Usually we end up doing it in deer season. Our anniversary is in the second week of November, right at the start of the season. It makes driving in the brush much more interesting when guns fire randomly.
Another favorite loop is on the other side of the highway and runs by Enchanted Rock. Once you get out of the valley the side roads are fun to explore. And almost every one loops back to the main road after crossing numerous ranches. There is no sound quiet like the sound of driving over cattle guards… time and time again.
We almost tried to fit in a run to Enchanted Rock, but there just wasn’t time. I’m really more eager than I should be to go back. My eagerness could tempt me toward irresponsible, intemperate behavior — like taking more time off work. I could blame it on Spring Fever.
Sounds like a plan… Enjoy
