Can We Say Biting, Flying, Demons From !*##

After a couple of days of semi-sunny, completely muggy, stay inside weekend days followed by a clear hot Monday we went straight to more rainy muggy days. Tropical moisture has flowed up over the coast to our south now for days. The puddles from last week hadn’t even drained to mud, much less dried, before this round began flowing north. Looking out office/kitchen window as I sit here at my desk/kitchen table I see a couple of inches of water standing around the grass outside.

The thing that really hit me today though was that as the rain would come down…I could see hundreds of mosquitoes trying to get in the window.Just think…even the mosquitoes  want in out of the rain. This is the reality we always forget about when we have a drought. Stepping outside brings thousands of the hungry little devils looking for a meal. To think the world can’t get enough of bloodsuckers on TV and at the movies, can we say Twilight anyone, and here I am looking for a break after just a day of their baby sisters. Mosquitoes…

I dread the idea of finally riding the Deere once the rains let up. It’s at times like this that I have to weigh the benefits of repellent and the known health issues of the chemicals and the health issues of the mosquitoes. Sometimes the chemicals win sometimes the bugs win, but, I don’t think their is a time that I win.

The local weather gurus are saying that these rains should start to taper off this evening…The guys at the Weather Underground seem to be saying that the weather engine driving these showers could be starting to pick up steam out in the gulf. Seems like Mother Nature might want this weather system to have a name. We will know by tomorrow who might be right. If we have a named storm, she’ll be called Bonnie.

In case anyone out there is wondering what is occupying my time these days…I’ve been spending time on my other sites working on my Mountain Dreams Network of Blogs/Pages. This week I have been learning about New York’s Adirondacks and studying the mountains of West Virginia. Today I am going to spend some time researching and writing about the mountains of Maryland. Swing over to Appalachian Mountain Dreams for links to the latest…
