End of January Twenty O’Eight

‘Tis the last day of January and the month has flown.

We seem to be riding a weather roller coaster this week. Three mornings ago it was in the low 40’s the next day was 70. Yesterday we were back in the 40’s. Today it’s in the mid 60’s. They say tomorrow we may see 30’s…No wonder everyone is ill around here.

The winter doldrums seem to be keeping me curled up in bed longer and longer of a morning. Making it harder to put much out here on these pages before work. Work has been non-stop from get to go with just a quick reading of mail and news at lunch. Evenings are a rush of meal fixings and catching up around the house with a movie occasionally before bed…Otherwise, a book after supper is the routine. And the days just fly…One after another.

Bringing to mind the geese I saw winging overhead last year on my birthday in the National Wildlife Refuge just on the coast a few miles south. Remembering the sight I am struck now by the metaphor of the days of my life. Winging by in line one after another. Each great “>” another year, each bird a day. Each day moves to the lead for a time then falls back into memory. Coming from the future, becoming the now, moving to the past. One after another, my life following the course set by the day…

Some mornings though, things seem confused, the path is not as clear. The day doesn’t doesn’t seem focused on the path. Too many things call for my attention. On those days I tend to feel like this…

May your days be led by the goose with a clear flight plan…
