Yesterday morning I stepped out to something I haven’t seen in a few years… The starlings have returned. When I first stepped out the trees were full of black and the ground was covered. And of course, being starlings, it was the incessant chatter that filled the air.
This morning, it’s the chickadees, the titmice, and the warblers that fill the crowns of the trees. For the past few weeks, flocks of doves have been picking through the debris on the ground. But no matter what species, they all show up in flocks.
Once again, we’re on the bottom of the roller coaster ride that is our Texas winters… The morning started out at 36°.
I’ve noticed the grackles beginning to show up, too. And doves? My goodness! The white-wings are everywhere.
