Thursday June 1st
It’s a bit cooler this morning.. The temperature before sunup was 66°.. The dew point was the exact same temperature. And with a humidity of 96%..
The pre-dawn air was slightly foggy. Bars of light split the darkness from the security lights across the street.
As I sit here in my rocking chair on the back porch.. The ceiling fans are producing a bit of a chill. But even with the coolness, without the ceiling fans the humidity in the air makes it… Not warm.. just muggy.
The soundscape this morning is filled with the sound of chickens. There’s a property around the corner where they have hundreds of individual chicken pens. Everything is behind high solid fences so I’m not sure exactly what they’re raising.. but I have a feeling it’s fighting cocks just from the layout. But some mornings.. I wish they were Raising Cane’s… A little more Texas toast and a lot less ruckus.
Well, the sounds of summer are here.. crickets in the morning.. cicadas in the afternoon.. Crows in the distance.. Cardinals all around the yard..
I really thought with the coming of summer I could turn off my alarm. That just goes to show you what anticipation please you live.. it seems every morning My grandson needs to be up at a different time. And since he cannot wake to an alarm he needs the Pawpaw alarm to get him out of bed… It’s going to be alonnnnggg summer.
One of the first artists whose music captured my ear back in the very early days of online music was Robin Hackett. And “Sarah Sez” was the song that caught my ear… Have a listen.
Well, I should head in.. so you all enjoy the day and I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
