Thursday – Saint Patrick’s Day
There’s a slight blush of spring in the air and on the trees… Blue bonnets are blooming on the bypass underpass. A scattering of azaleas are beginning to bloom around town. The oak trees are beginning to break bud on their leaves. And even though it’s mostly spring weeds, the yards are looking green again.
The early morning hours or filled with bird songs. Flashes of blue and red are being seen all over the yard as the blue jays and the cardinals are going about their spring business.
Blue skies and sunshine are beginning to outnumber the overcast, cloudy, gloomy days of winter.
The daily highs are in the ’70s more than the lower temperatures these days… Though truth be told, we’ve had a lot of ’70s and even some ’80s right through the winter.
I was reading the Redtree Times this morning and was reminded of a song my Winamp machine was playing just yesterday… Also… My DNA seems to show I have a bit of a reason to celebrate this day. So I’ll be having some corned beef and cabbage and potatoes as a homage to that ancestry…
Also, let’s hear an Irish song. Well, it’s an Irish song written by an American that has become a very popular song in the Irish culture. It’s The Galway Girl from Steve Earle.
