Tuesday

43 years ago this morning, my wife and I stood in front of a justice of the peace and said our vows. 43 years, almost twice as long as it took me to get to that point… Happy Anniversary Dear. May the next 43 be just as fun.

We’re still in a run of nice fall days. Not quite as cool… But we haven’t stumbled back into summer yet. And I’m hopeful that we won’t.

Sitting here with the windows open each day I’ve been amazed at just how quiet it is outside. Not even much in the way of bird song. About the only sound that pierces the quiet is the bellow of a cow in the pasture behind the house. And it’s not a steady sound… Just semi-regular.

It’s almost time for another bus run, so I guess I’ll cut this short… Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our dysfunctional nation and world…

Catch y’all down the road…

  1. I’ve often noticed that November is a “quiet” month. When I was out at the Big Thicket on Sunday, I heard some crows, one time. That was it. There wasn’t even a single chirp or warble. The birds were completely silent. This is the month when my bluejays and such disappear, too. Come December, more or less, they’ll be back.

    1. I sometime feel that the birds of summer have moved south and we are waiting for their northern relatives to arrive. It’s like the birds are all part of a worldwide timeshare plan…
