Thursday

Last night, or actually very, very early this morning, the line of thunderstorms moved through dropping a nice amount of rain but more importantly, knocking out our power… Again.

I think this year will go down in our personal history books as the year the Texas power grid failed us. First it was the winter freeze… And now it seems like almost every time we get a heavy rain the power goes out. And of course, it always happens at night. At least last night’s outage only lasted a couple of hours. But when you sleep with a CPAP, they’re very, very long hours.

The radar image above is from the time the storms move through.

Having lived through numerous Texas droughts, you’ll never hear me really complain about rain in the summertime… But I’m starting to worry. Our ground has been saturated for a while. And should we get a tropical system coming on shore, we could be faced with another Harvey type situation.

And in our household we have a theory about hurricanes. Any year that we lose power more than three times is a sure sign that a hurricane will hit our area… Need I say anything else.

The only good thing to say about all this rain is it has moderated the heat. You know it’s always nice when the temperature on the Canadian border is higher than the temperature on the Texas Gulf Coast. And that’s been the case for weeks…

I just glanced out the window… And rain is falling again.

Anyway, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for the nation in the world. And as tropical storm Elsa moves up the East Coast everyone try to stay dry.
