Happy Birthday Caitlin
Today marks the anniversary of the birth of our youngest child. Three decades and one year ago, or so my granddaughter informed me this morning, our last child was born. Happy birthday dear.
This is another, in a long line of other, overcast and overwarm spring morning. The temperature this morning is 73°. We’ve now reached that time of the year when more often than not the overnight low doesn’t slip below 70°. And summer is still a couple of months away.
I saw mention yesterday that the TV weather pundits were warning of a severe weather outbreak and how Houston needed to prepare. I’ve never quite understood what forecast models these pundits of local weather peruse to come up with their headlines. I’ve also often wondered if these television pundits have a knob on their back to ramp up their weather anxiety. Because truthfully, they always seem to be wishing for weather disasters to give their lives meaning. I don’t really know… But I can’t help wondering.
All I know is that being located all these miles south of I-10, I don’t expect to see whatever it is that they are warning about. For the past dozen years or so almost all of the severe weather passes on our north of the I-10 corridor. I really don’t want to complain, I really don’t like severe weather. Especially the kind of lightning storm that went through the other night. It seems I’m always having to replace a network switch after one of those lightning storms. And I don’t understand it.
I always find it amusing when I walk out on the porch to have a hummingbird inform me that the feeder is empty. They seem quite intelligent as they buzz the feeder then buzz my face and buzz the feeder then bounce up and down in front of me. I mean really they could be a pet dog or a cat acting like that.
Well the coffee cup is running low… And I need to check my email… So, you all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray…
I hope you can enjoy your Tuesday doing whatever you may be doing on the spring Tuesday morning.
The weathermen whomp it up to keep people tuned in, and the people who love to be scared are happy — sort of like a bunch of ten year olds watching the Grade B movie from behind their hands. Sometimes, just to amuse myself, I think of all the things I’ve been told were going to kill me. Lo and behold, I’m still here!
That lightning storm you mentioned took out my internet, but not electricity. It took out the fire alarm system, too; that guy was here today, replacing the panels that were fried. I’m just sure we had a strike over at South Shore marina — on one of the masts. It happens a couple of times a year, and someone has to replace all their electronics.
I was laying in bed with my eyes closed and the blinds shut when a strike hit close to the house… I will swear I could see the streak of lightning on the inside of my eyelids… It sure got me out of bed!
