Thunder to the east, rainbow to the west, warm and humid morning coffee muses.

Mother Nature is teasing once again. At least the showers are actually starting out in the gulf today. They always seem to be drifting north this time of year, but, when they start offshore they are coming in our direction… mostly!

Do you ever walk outside of a morning and smell “heat”? I would imagine the smell has more to do with ozone than heat. Other than the fact that warm days enable the creation of ozone.

I can see the rain falling off in the distance on both sides of the house. It kinda feels like almost hitting the jackpot on the progressive slots in Vegas… time after time.

I didn’t notice any crows in the front yard yesterday. It must be time to put out more dog food.

There’s now a cool breeze blowing in off the rain that’s passing to the east. If I can’t get the rain, the cool is a good consolation prize. I just checked the radar again and that rain to the east is drifting my way and building south as it drifts north. If this keeps up we could get a decent shower out of today.

I’m starting to wonder about the prognosticators… their ten day forecast goes from a chance of showers almost every day to mostly sunny to heavy showers today and Friday. All in the course of two days.

But, it’s cooler outside now than it was when I came out so I’m not going to complain. I’ll just sit and enjoy the sound of distant thunder.

NOON Update:

The sky outside is turning darker and darker. Lightning is flashing over the woods. Thunder rolls over the house in waves of sound. The rain is still just teasing…

But radar is promising at least a bit of rain will be falling soon… my fingers are crossed.
