A Pre Tropical Storm Morning Coffee Muses

In the photo above, on the far right above my shed, you’ll see a smudge of what appears to be smoke. Judging by the number of sirens and the appearance of a life-flight helicopter, it must be a bad fire. Life-flight just flew off. Sirens continue.

All eyes today will be turned to the south. Watching to see what mother nature is going to throw our way. Harvey is heading our way. They aren’t predicting a real wind event, just lots and lots of rain. We will see. I just need it to hold off until tomorrow afternoon…

Whatever’s up the birds are as active as I’ve seen them in quiet awhile. I am hearing birds I haven’t heard in weeks… And seeing them too.

We have news helicopters hovering over the bypass now… I guess I better check and see what’s up…

oh well, that’s shot my coffee…

  1. Ummmm… I’m not sure you’re going to get until tomorrow afternoon. But we’ll see. Mandatory evacs are up now for Bolivar, west end of Galveston, and below ICW in Brazoria. I think I heard the phrase “cat 3” uttered, but I need to check that. it’s hard to tell from he radio reports, since they hype everything unmercifully.

National Hurricane Center and NWS — those are my go-tos. Believe I’ll go see what they’re saying, since it’s pouring down rain now.

    1. Linda, I’ve been following it closely all day. We are scheduled in the Med Center at 9am through by 2-3pm. We will have to watch into tomorrow morning to see if we have to cancel. But so far all of the tracks have it heading in down Corpus way. With our area getting mostly rain. Though I’m sure you should be careful, the surge into Galveston Bay will probably be pretty bad and the rain washing into Clear Creek won’t help matters any for you.

      Be safe, stay dry.
