Last July 2017 Morning Coffee Muses

This will mark the 62nd time in 63 years that I will have marked the transition from July into August on the Texas Gulf Coast. And, according to an article I read on 350.org, it’s not my imagination that these transitions are feeling warmer as time goes by. The records indicate that they are warmer.

My wife and I have this love hate relationship to Sam’s Club. If we had a Costco in the area I’d switch allegiances in a heartbeat… but, we don’t. We’ve come to the conclusion that I’d something catches our eye at Sam’s and we decide to “think about it” we should just forget about it. The reason being, when we finally decide to make the purchase, they’ll be sold out. And, they won’t get anymore in.

Case in point, I like my mornings on the back porch. But, along about the end of June, the ceiling fans just aren’t enough to make it comfortable. So I have an older floor fan that I use to help. By the end of July, the anemic amount of air the old fan moves no longer is quite enough. We have a larger fan in the bedroom now that manages to move enough air on low to make it’s predecessor look sad. All summer long I’ve thought about picking up a new model for the bedroom and moving the older one outside. When I finally pulled the trigger and went to pick one up… they had none, this morning I pulled the bedroom fan out on the back porch, and for the first time in weeks, it’s actually comfortable…

The soundtrack of the day is all cicadas while the visuals are all about the dragonflies. The only bird in sight is my resident Mississippi Kite on his favorite perch.
