It’s Overcast, It’s Hot, It’s Steamy, It’s Another Summer Coffee Muses
Summer continues to build up steam. Mornings in the mid eighties, afternoons pushing into the nineties, heat indexes pushing into triple digits. The soundtrack of the days is mostly comprised of cicadas calling. It’s perfect weather for just one thing… growing grass. It takes only half a week for the grass to get a weeks growth.
I am seeing a growing abundance of dragonflies patrolling the air above. Sometimes it seems as though there are a hundred in sight at a time. It reminds me of summers past. It also tells you how swampy it feels outside now that the dragonflies are having a population explosion.
Here I am, ready to confirm your estimation of the weather we’ve got now. We’re in what I call the drip season, now — the time of year when you have to be very, very careful when varnishing, lest all that sweat drip off your chin and into the freshly-laid varnish!
And yet, the morning surprised me by being cooler than expected. We are now into the time of year when no matter how much I may contemplate outside work, kids find just the contemplation causes that phenomenon you mention.
